As promised, I am sharing with you a proposed layout where each existing vault would be placed. Follow this link: revised map of in-ground re-interments
This was a very difficult task! Inasmuch as we had wished to approximate the old layout, several problems arose. We discovered that we have two very different types of vaults which are of significantly different dimensions. In order to achieve the desired design, this necessitated grouping the “terra cotta†vaults together in Section B and a few in Section D. The “concrete†vaults are placed almost entirely in Sections D and E (with a few in B).
We also have individuals who had purchased a reservation before the freeze last year and have a special request to be buried next to a loved one. So we have taken these into account. Complicating things further, some of these requests were “concretes†wanting to go next to “terra cottasâ€, which meant more jiggering. Special requests (in red) are noted on the attached maps.
We have additional reservations that were made and paid for before the price freeze. At first we didn’t think we would be able to accommodate all these reservations in the in-ground vaults. This is now not the case. We decided to remove the cream brick chimney next to the sacristy. It is unused, unattractive, and takes up needed space. A new louver in the wall can provide what venting we need for our church boiler. This change provides space for an additional fourteen in-ground vaults, more than paying for the cost of removal. Now all pre-freeze reservations can be honored. They will be allotted on a first-come first-served basis as the space is required. This was the system when they were purchased. Should these individuals choose to re-locate in one of the newer areas, money already paid for an in-ground vault will be applied to the new purchase.
Note that the change in plan means that we also have more space for a flagpole and a plaque in Section E. Here we will honor our veterans who have served our nation, placing individual names on the plaque.
So…herewith is the proposed rearrangement of vaults. While there are no bad seats in the kingdom of heaven, so too, I believe, each spot in the garden will be equally beautiful and will honor our loved ones. However, if we have seriously overlooked some concern/issue of yours, please let us know right away. Once we re-inter the vaults, that’s it! As mentioned, we are not yet certain exactly when the re-interment will begin, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks. We still have quite a bit of work to do to prepare the vaults. We need to reconfigure the top of each vault to accommodate a piece of 2†granite, to which will be affixed a newly fashioned bronze plaque. (Note: the name(s) and dates on the new plaque will be identical to the old one.)
Sales for the new cremorial niches are being delayed. We have decided it best to allow you to see a more finished product before making your purchase and deciding what particular spot you would like to reserve. As has been mentioned often–you will have plenty of advance notice before sales begin.
