The men’s Breakfast scheduled for Saturday, November 8th has been cancelled.
On behalf of the Outreach Committee, I would like to express our gratitude for all the new and gently used clothing and books you contributed for the Cradles to Crayons collection. I dropped off 10 bags of clothing and 1 large box of books. C2C was most appreciative. We will be holding a Fall/Winter collection on Sunday School Kick-off day on September 8th and it will run through the end of the month – September 29th. As you’re switching out of summer clothes, please remember to save your outgrown children’s clothing for our next spring/summer collection.
Also, after filling our pantry to capacity, I brought over several grocery bags to the food cupboard at The Ridley Park United Methodist Church. As always they were most grateful and appreciate all the donations they receive from Christ Church throughout the year!
Finally, I want to thank anyone who helped with the sorting of the clothing. We were finished sorting in about a half hour – many hands surely made lighter work:)
The VCS forms that were in the Summer Newsletter were incorrect. Corrected copies are located at the back of church, on the Baptismal Font. There are also copies of the form in the pouch on the Secretary’s Office door. You may also request a copy to be sent via email (email@example.com.)
Our Good Friday service begins at 12 noon and lasts until 1:15 PM. Following the liturgy, those who would like may remain for meditations and music in the church. We will conlude at 3 PM.
All participants in the Maundy Thursday Service – including ushers, lay readers, altar guild and servers should attend the 5:15 PM rehearsal on Maundy Thursday.
Our Maundy Thursday service begins at 6 PM and will be followed by the stripping of the altar. Following the liturgy there will be our traditional meat loaf dinner in Musselman Hall. We are in need of desserts for the Maundy Thursday dinner. Please bring your desserts to Musselman Hall before you go into church for the liturgy.
The watch in the chapel begins at 8 PM and lasts until 11 AM on Good Friday.
The sign-up for the Maunday Thursday watch is at the back of church.
Due to the inclement weather on March 6th, Nelson’s BBQ will be at Christ Church on Wednesday, March 13th, from 3 to 7 PM (or until sold out). You may pre-order your meals by calling or emailing the office before noontime on March 13th.
A reminder that Daylight Savings Time begins a 2 AM on Sunday morning! Please remember to adjust your clocks before retiring on Saturday night!
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday services, on February 13th,
service times are: 6:45 a.m., 12 noon and 7:00 p.m.
Our Lenten program begins on Wednesday, March 20th, with a weekly Lenten Eucharist at 6:45 a.m. followed by a breakfast in Musselman Hall. We also offer at 6:00 p.m. each Wednesday for the first four weeks of Lent a simple soup and salad supper. Following supper will be a presentation, discussion and short Bible study on the theme of forgiveness: what is it, and how do we do it? Bring a small notebook for journaling. We conclude each of the first four weeks with Stations of the Cross in the church. The fifth week we will again have our Christian Passover Seder. Jesus’ Last Supper was probably a Passover Seder. This is potluck, with Kosher-for-Passover foods. We have lots of easy recipes and you can buy some items ready-made! NOTE: The Seder begins earlier, at 5:45. There are no Stations the fifth week, as the Seder becomes a Communion service. Come join other parishioners in making Lent a time of reflection and renewal as we prepare for the great feast of Easter on March 31.
