Because they are having fun together! The Altar Guild is looking for a few new members to fill out their ranks. Here members Sue Dowling, Shirley McGahan, Gladys and Dave Roman make the pitch while posing in the sacristy after the 9:30 AM Friday healing service. Altar guild members prepare the altar, ensure we have bread, wine, and candles, that the microphones have fresh batteries, the books are set up, the silver and brass are polished and that everything is nice and tidy before and after services. As evidenced by the smiles, there is a wonderful camaraderie in the group and they would love to welcome you as a member. Junior members also welcome! (Looks good on a college resume.) If interested, please contact Shirley McGahan or call the church office. Thank you!
Have you ever wondered who the person sitting across the aisle is? Heard a name and wanted a face to go with that mane? Are you new to Christ Church? We have a solution, a new pictorial directory. There is no cost for the directory. PROVIDED YOU GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN! You will also receive a FREE 8×10 portrait. During this time there is also a 20% off all portrait packages. Come join us on Shrove Tuesday for our annual pancake feast. This is the last hurrah before Lent begins. Seating is from 5 PM to 6:30 PM. After indulging, be sure to join us for one of our Ash Wednesday services at 6:45 AM or 12 noon or 7:00 PM, repenting of all those pancakes you enjoyed the night before.
Our Annual Meeting will be held this Sunday, January 25th, immediately following the 10 AM service. We will be electing new vestry members (nominees Alex Hollar, Andrew King, Janice Kordowski, and Mike Iannacci) and a new accounting warden (nominee Maripat King). We will receive reports, approve a budget for 2015 and say good-bye to our outgoing members. Come join us for this important event in the life of our parish.
Also, come say thank you to our outgoing vestry members Betsy Kirkpatrick, Mike Huppman, John Rubillo and Bill Graham – and our accounting warden Carol King. They have served the parish faithfully and well.
Come join us for our annual Epiphany luncheon and auction at 12 noon! It follows our Annual Meeting at 11 AM in Musselman Hall. The auction is a potpourri of gift certificates (Erin Pub and Rigatonis), games, figurines, dolls (including the Colette Zapf collection doll “Isabell”), jewelry, sports paraphernalia (e.g., Ryan Howard bobble-head) and other cool stuff donated by members of our Christ Church family. Oh, yes, and we are offering a Columbus Day weekend in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in a rustic cabin (with all the amenities) that sleeps 8.
Our auctioneer and master of ceremonies is the one and only Bob Melso. He promises to make it fun and a great fund-raiser for our youth program. We hope to see you there!
St. Nicolas will make his annual appearance to Christ Church children this Sunday, December 7th at the 10 AM service during the children’s sermon. St. Nicolas will tell the story of his own gift giving to the children of Myra (part of modern day Turkey). The historical St. Nicolas was born in the 3rd century AD. The modern day St. Nicolas makes his home right here in Delaware County. We are pleased to welcome him back to Christ Church.
